Michael enjoyed working on the rain-barn with the whole crew a
week ago. Here he's taking the level down to his father. |
|
|
Early in the week, I climbed up on the platform to take some pictures of
the various views. One of the best was of the roof framing before the rest of the panels went
on. |
This is the view of the SW meadow and its two brushpiles from the
observation platform that is 8 feet up. Right now it has no edge or rail. |
|
We got the rest of the roof panels on (all three of us) and
Richard got the gutters on, but not the ridge-cap...it was too windy and damp later in the week to
crawl out onto the slippery metal roof and attach the ridge-cap. But this is how it will look--only
that one "ear" of the last panel that's not quite screwed down right, and the ridge-cap, will be
on. The observation platform to the left is a lovely place...I may spend the night up there after
we get an edging on so I can't roll off... <G> |

This kestrel almost always spirals up into the sun...and for once I got a
picture. This is hand-held with the zoom lens. |
This time, I got a recognizable picture of him perched in a dead hackberry
and looking at me--right before he took off. This is with the fixed-length 300 mm, using a monopod
to steady the camera. It helps! |

The flowers on this elbow-bush were just opening
when the ice storm hit. |
|
|
Here a kidneywood is frosted in ice. |
Grass encased in ice--it was also moving a little in the light breeze, so
in the minimal light, hard to photograph. |
|
Frosting the creek woods....the fields and the
woods are both frosted with ice. |
