No, Just Sneaky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rags has twice appeared where he hadn&#8217;t been seen, and has several times been missed while standing in the shade in summer.\u00a0 You would not think a nice round (small but round) splashy-patterned black and white horse could disappear in broad, or even lean daylight, but&#8230;he does.\u00a0 Tonight at feeding time, I looked (thought I looked), saw Tigger down the pasture, saw nothing in the south barn lot or&#8230;when I walked into the barn&#8230;in the barn, and then walked over and shut the west gate before Tigger got in.\u00a0 Aha.\u00a0 Ready to start the feeding process.\u00a0 And then heard the hoofbeats *behind* me.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-689 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/elizabethmoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Rags-4-24-2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"http:\/\/elizabethmoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Rags-4-24-2020.jpg 342w, http:\/\/elizabethmoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Rags-4-24-2020-228x300.jpg 228w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That was Ragtime back in April; the attitude is still the same, though his mane and tail have grown out.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;m not invisible,&#8221; he says.\u00a0 &#8220;I wasn&#8217;t hiding, but I was just&#8230;um&#8230;waiting until I had your full attention.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;re a sneak,&#8221; I said.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;You hurt my feelings,&#8221; he said.\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;m just HUNGRY.\u00a0 See how LEAN I am?\u00a0 Hardly a single ounce of meat on my bones&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;You&#8217;re plump,&#8221; I said, checking as I do at least twice a week.\u00a0 Firm muscle and an acceptable but definite amount of fat.&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;It&#8217;s my winter coat,&#8221; he said.\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;m so hungry I could eat your shirt.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;NO TEETH ON HUMANS.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;I didn&#8217;t MEAN anything&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He has wonderfully soft, furry ears.\u00a0 Plushy.\u00a0 He doesn&#8217;t mind having his ears handled, and I like feeling the soft plush.\u00a0 His winter coat this year (unlike when I bought him last February) is plushy, soft, and healthy-feeling all over, unless he&#8217;s just rolled in mud.\u00a0\u00a0 Due to his being between me and the gate out to where Tigger waited (impatiently), he got fed first.<\/p>\n<p>Tigger&#8217;s response to his supper was a sorrowful look, and a resigned sound that clearly meant &#8220;You put that horrible stuff in my feed again and I TOLD you&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;If your plate&#8217;s clean when I come back then you can come into the barn,&#8221;
