This is the science fiction blog, so that title seemed appropriate when I faceplanted into the gravel & concrete sidewalk Saturday afternoon.\u00a0 Planet used its overwhelming gravitatioal constant to smash me down (OK, I tripped on the corner of a planter)\u00a0 and turn me into a scary, gory, bleeding-faced mess right there between the airport terminal and its parking lot.<\/p>\n
I am sorta OK, barring the lump on my forehead, the black eye, the skinned nose, the split lip with stitches on it, the lump on my chin, the lacerations on the heel of one hand, the large bruise on one knee(smaller on the others) and various minor scrapages.\u00a0 Stuff hurts.\u00a0 OTOH, very, very lucky indeed to have no breaks, no missing teeth, amd tje wprst enconvenience (can’t see the letters on the screen) being the shattering of my bifocals, leaving me with only distance vision.\u00a0 Peak OUCH should be tomorrow and Tuesday, according to the medical folks, who were great, and I’m not looking forward to that but still very grateful it wasn’t worse.\u00a0 It amazed the medical folks (from the EMS cruew through the ER) that I did\u00a0 not break any bones, because thjey expect 78 year old women to have fragile bones.\u00a0 I muttered “estrogen and calcium” but they didn’t hear me.<\/p>\n
No worries.\u00a0 This is a relatively minor (but OMG how *messy*!) injury and I’ll be fine when the stitches are out and I’ve grown some new skin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
